Many people if they have the external space and relevant Planning permission extend their homes usually to give themselves a larger kitchen and/or extra rooms. A popular type of extension is where the rear or side (or both) walls of a property are extended over 2 stories, perhaps extending the kitchen and giving a En-Suite or extra bedroom (or both) upstairs or other variations.
It could be a simple garage extension where the existing garage walls are extended up to make a 2nd storey, and/or walls are extended towards the rear to make a utility room or kitchen extension, there are many possibilities and variations, all of which will depend on your external space and existing layout.
Every house usually has limitations when it comes to extending because of space or Planning, it is assumed that you have thought about the maximum resale value for your property in your location as well! (e.g. You might not get the Return Value when trying to sell a 7 bed mansion if you live on or near a local Council Estate!), but once you have decided to make that bold step and you have Planning approval and plans, you are ready to start planning your build!.
